That leads me onto today's review. I want to share my opinions on the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. If you've been watching YouTube and reading blogs for a few years, you will know about the hype surrounding this product. So many beauty bloggers and vloggers adore these lip butters, but I want to tell you guys why i'm not a huge fan of these.
My first peeve with this product, is the amount of shimmer that they contain. Personally, I prefer lipsticks that have a creamy consistency, and do not contain any shimmers. I'm not sure if it is just the particular shades that I have, but they are packed full of shimmers. If I look closely at my lips while I am wearing one of these, my lips look like a disco ball! I simply cannot stand that amount of shimmer being on my lips, as it just looks and feels gritty.
I also dislike the way they feel on my lips. The formula is just so thick, which is definitely not helped by the shimmers that they contain. I find these to be pretty uncomfortable to wear, as I feel like I have just spread a thick balm over my lips. Also, I that I find that they melt very easily.
Another issue I have with this product, is the price. These retail for $21.95, for 2.55g. This places them at the higher price range of the drugstore, which I wouldn't mind if I adored the product. For a product that I do not love, I do not want to be paying that much!
I also like the shade range offered. There are 20 different shades, ranging from light nudes to bold reds. Even though I am not a huge fan on the shimmery formula, I do have to commend Revlon on their extensive shade range. It is much more impressive than the majority of drugstore lipstick ranges.
I own three shades of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters; 025 Peach Parfait, 050 Berry Smoothie, and 090 Sweet Tart. Peach Parfait is a peachy brown colour filled with chunky shimmers, Berry Smoothie is a medium pink berry colour, and Sweet Tart is a bright warm pink shade. These lip butters have an extremely faint sweet scent, which fades after application.
Some neutral aspects of this product, are the lasting power and pigmentation. Personally, I do not wear these very often, but I do recall them lasting a few hours on my lips. They do wear off with eating or drinking, so reapplying is necessary. Also, for being a balmy consistency, they do have decent pigmentation. They certainly aren't as pigmented as a lipstick, but I would say that they offer more colour payoff than a tinted lipbalm.
Overall, i'm on the fence about the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. I adore the wide colour range and packaging, but i'm not too impressed by the actual formula. I wouldn't recommend these to my readers, unless you prefer shimmery lipsticks. If you do own this product, i'd love to hear what you think about it!

I have a few of these and do really like them and the formula! The colours are gorgeous too. I'm always hesitant to buy more though because of the price. I really don't think they're worth $21.95 considering they're a drugstore product!

I'm glad you like them, wish I felt the same way! ♡
DeleteGreat posts. These are so expensive though, for a drugstore product.

Thanks! I know right, it's so irritating! ♡
DeleteI have a few of these and I don't really like them which sucks because they are quite pricey!
ReplyDeleteI feel like they dry my lips out a lot!
But the shades are always so pretty and I love the packaging!

Totally agree. The packaging is so nice ♡
DeleteI feel like its so hard to get good value products in australia because everything costs more here than in the usa and uk. It just makes it a little bit harder to be happy with the hype products featured by beauty bloggers! :(
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! I wish our makeup was the same price as American makeup! ♡
DeleteI own six or seven of these and I love them all to death. However I did buy mine on special so I got three for the price of one. Wouldn't have bought it for full price!
ReplyDeleteOh thats good that you love them! Yeah definitely don't think they're worth full price ♡
