Review & Swatches ♡ Essence April 2015 Range Update

Essence are soon to be releasing a number of new products to their range, just in time for the autumn/winter season here in Australia. The following products, as well as number of others, will be on sale from the 6th of April 2015. Most of these products follow the nude trend; and include a number of natural, soft, neutral shades. If you're interested in seeing a sneak peak of what is to come, then keep reading!

First off, is the Essence Silky Touch Blush in 90 Summer Dreaming*. I am a massive fan of the Silky Touch Blushes - in fact, I now own 7 of these babies. This is a beautiful light peachy pink blush, which is ideal for pale skin! It's pigmented, yet not too overpowering, and just adds the perfect amount of colour into your cheeks.

Essence have reformulated, repackaged and added new colours to their line of single eyeshadows. They now have a new texture, and the design imprinted in the eyeshadow has been changed. The range includes matte, shimmery, and metallic formulas. I have the Essence Mono Eyeshadow in 15 Hazel Me Not*, which is a matte cool toned brown shade. This eyeshadow isn't overly pigmented, but does make a fantastic transition/blending shade.

Moving onto lip products, I have two of their five new nude lipsticks, which seem to be an addition to their Longlasting Lipstick range. These are the Essence Longlasting Lipstick Nude in 01 Wearing Only a Smile* and 03 Come Naturally*. Wearing Only a Smile is a very pale peachy nude, and Come Naturally is a deep mauve nude shade. These lipsticks are very creamy, but I'm not a fan of the lighter nude shade, as it makes my lips blend into the rest of my face!

I also have two of their six new nude lipglosses, the Essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss in 01 Shy Beauty* and 03 Taste the Sweets*. I had never tried any of the XXXL lipglosses before, and so far I am really liking the formula. They are glossy, non sticky, and smell amazing. Shy Beauty is a pale candy pink shade, and Taste the Sweets is a medium rosy pink.

They have also released a brand new mascara and eyeliner, the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara* and the Essence Easy 2 Use Eyeliner Pen*. This black mascara is an second addition to their line of Lash Princess mascaras. This mascara provides great volume, curl and thickness to the lashes, but unfortunately it smudges under my eyes, so I can only use it on the top lashes. The new black eyeliner pen gives results very similar to those of the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner. It is extremely precise and has a very fine brush tip, which makes eyeliner application a breeze! This is definitely a new favourite of mine.

Moving onto nails, another product following the nude trend is the Essence I Love Trends Nail Polish The Nudes in 05 Pure Soul*. This is a pretty pale beige shade, filled with micro shimmer. I haven't had a chance to wear this one yet, so I don't know what the formula is like. There is also a new range of 26 gel nail polishes, that set just like a regular nail polish, and do not use a LED or UV light that is usually required for gel polish. I have two shades, the Essence The Gel Nail Polish in 11 4 Ever Young* and 04 Our Sweetest Day*. Our Sweetest Day is a light metallic shade, and 4 Ever Young is a vibrant watermelon creme shade - swatch here. These polishes have a gel finish, and are extremely glossy. They have also released a base coat and a top coat that work in conjunction with their gel nail polishes, the Essence The Gel Nail Polish Base Coat* and the Essence The Gel Polish Top Coat*. So far I have been really liking these, as they extend my nail polish wear time and make my nails look extremely shiny. These new gel polishes are also great, as they are easy to remove with regular nail polish remover!

Summer Dreaming | Hazel Me Not | Wearing Only a Smile | Come Naturally | Shy Beauty |
Taste the Sweets | Easy 2 Use Eyeliner Pen

Overall, I have only been playing with these new releases for a few weeks, but so far I am really impressed! I can't wait for this collection to release so I can purchase some of their other new goodies, like the sponge nail polish remover and some more of the mono eyeshadows. Keep in mind that this is not a complete list of all of their new products, it is only the ones I have. If you're interest in seeing what else they will be releasing, have a quick look here.

NOTD | That's What I Mint by Essence

Hello my loves!

In today's post I am going to be showing you my current nail colour! I don't know if you've noticed, but lately i've been posting a bit more on this blog! This is mainly because my computer has broken, and I am unable to upload any YouTube videos. I hope you're liking my more regular blog posts!

Anyway, onto my NOTD! The nail polish I am currently wearing is the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in 146 'That's What I Mint'. It is the most stunning mint shade, as you may have guessed by it's name.

Even though we are currently in Winter here in Australia, and this is definitely a more Spring/Summer colour, I just couldn't resist painting my nails with this beautiful shade of mint!

This nail polish has a lovely creme formula, and was completely opaque with 2 coats. In these pictures I am also wearing the OPI Natural Nail Base Coat and Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat.

Just wanted to also mention that these photos were taken two days after nail polish application. I find that with a base and top coat, this Essence nail polish easily lasts over 3 days without chipping.

I hope you've enjoyed this post! I'd love it if you guys left a comment telling me what is currently on your nails!

NOTD | Absolutely Blue by Essence

Hello my gorgeous readers!

Today I have a quick NOTD post for you all. I apologise for my lack of posts lately (on both my blog and youtube channel) but i've been swamped with tests and assessment tasks! Now that school is closer to ending for the year, there should be a lot more content posted soon!

The nail polish of my choice today, is another Essence Colour & Go Nailpolish. Have you caught on to my love of Essence products yet?! This one is in 125, Absolutely Blue.

This polish is a gorgeous baby blue shade, with a subtle lavender tint to it. I'm awful at describing colours, but hopefully the photos will show you what I mean! Anyway, this is a creme formula polish.

I only had to do two coats for this polish to become fully opaque. As with most of Essence's nail polishes, it has quite a thick formula (not in a bad way).

I can't really comment on the lasting power of this polish, as i've only just applied it, but if it is like most of the other Essence nail polishes i've tried, it should last a good 3 days before starting to chip.

Hope you've enjoyed this quick post!

Review and Swatches ♡ Essence Longlasting Lipsticks

Hello my lovelies, today i'll be reviewing and swatching some lipsticks that have recently become available on the Australian market.

These are the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks. If you have been watching my youtube videos or reading my blog for a while, it will be no secret to you that I am obsessed with the makeup brand Essence. Anyway, the shades that I picked up were 08 Colour Crush, 01 Coral Calling,  and 10 Cotton Candy. The Longlasting Lipstick range consists of 10 lipsticks in total, which all contain 3.8g of product.

What I was most excited for with these lipsticks, was actually the packaging. Sounds a little crazy, eh. This matte black casing with a thin stripe to indicate the colour of the lipstick is SUCH a step up from their previous cheap-looking lipstick packaging. That gets a huge thumbs up from me!

The formula of these lipsticks also impressed me. Their previous lipsticks had more of a tinted lipbalm formula, and in comparison, these lipsticks are a lot more pigmented and have better lasting power. I still wouldn't say that they are completely opaque, but they do have decent colour payoff, and they apply nicely.

The first lipstick is 08 Colour Crush. It is a lovely vibrant pink shade, that I think would suit a variety of different skin tones.

Next, is 01 Coral Calling, which is a gorgeous medium coral shade. I don't tend to suit coral lipsticks too well, but I really like the way that this one looks on me.

The final lipstick is 10 Cotton Candy. This is my personal favourite, and i've worn it almost every single day since i've purchased it. It is a bright blue-toned, barbie pink shade.

Left to Right: 08 Colour Crush, 01 Coral Calling,  and 10 Cotton Candy

In conclusion, I am very impressed by these lipsticks and will definitely be purchasing more shades in the future. They aren't the most pigmented lipsticks that i've tried - and don't have great lasting power, but for only $4 AUD, I think they are a fabulous product.

Have you picked up any of these Essence Longlasting Lipsticks? Let me know if you have any more recommendations from this line.

NOTD | Free Hugs by Essence

Hello my lovelies!

Today's post is a quick NOTD, using a lovely new nail polish that I picked up on yesterday's shopping shenanigans with Sarah. What a mouthful! Anyway, I picked up another one of my favourite nail polishes - the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polishes. This is number 106 'Free Hugs'. It's a gorgeous light pink bubblegum creme.
As with all of the other Essence Colour & Go Nail Polishes, I absolutely love the formula of this polish. It's got a really nice opacity, and is only slightly streaky (not the polish's fault, i'm just rubbish at painting nails!).

It's coming off very dark and purple toned in the photos (due to the rubbish weather here in Sydney), but in real life its much more of a light barbie-pink shade.
I've also heard that this is a dupe for Essie's Chastity - which is great seeing as it only retails for $2.75 AUD compared to Essie's RRP of $16.95.

Anyway, I hope you've all enjoyed this quick little NOTD.
What do you think of this polish?

Top 5 Spring Lipsticks ♡

It's currently Spring here in Australia, and I have been using this change in weather to inspire me to play with some different lipstick colours. Throughout the past few months, I have been loving more of the pink and peachy shades of lipstick, and I thought I would share them with you.

Maybelline Color Whisper in 'Pink Possibilities'

This Maybelline Color Whisper has to be one of my favourite pink lipstick shades. It is a medium pink bubblegum shade, with a very moisturising formula. If you're looking for an extremely pigmented and longwearing lipstick, than this isn't it. It is lightly pigmented, and has a glossy formula (not great wearing time). I don't really mind that this doesn't have the best lasting power, as I enjoy whipping its cute packaging out whilst in public to reapply. I love this lipstick for those days where you just want a bright lip that's easy to slap on.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in '16'

This Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick is one of the most gorgeous peachy pink shades of lipstick that I own. It is opaque, and has a slightly creamy finish (not matte). This has to be one of my favourite lipsticks for everyday use, as it compliments a vast array of eye looks, and I love the way that it looks with my skin colour.

Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in 'Hula'

I have to mention the Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Hula. This is a lovely coral/orange shade, with a creamy but pigmented formula. I love to wear this lipstick on days where I just want a neutral lip that is no fuss, and easy to apply on the go. The downside to this lipstick is that it was limited edition, and no longer sold in stores. I actually bought mine from a little bin in Priceline marked down to $3. I'm sure you can find it online somewhere though.

Essence Lipstick in 'All About Cupcake'

This lipstick is a gorgeous coral pink shade. I would have to say that the formula is more similar to that of a lip butter or tinted lip balm, as it is quite shiny and slightly sheer - though it can be built up to be more opaque. I love the colour of this lipstick, especially for spring time. I find that it just suits a lot of different makeup looks, and I tend to find this floating around my handbag on days out on the town. The one disappointing thing about this product is the packaging, as it is made out of coloured plastic which can be broken easily, and the actual lipstick rises out above the tube - which makes it very easy to gauge when putting the cap back on. But for the tiny price tag of $4 AUD, this product is fantastic!

Sportsgirl Pout About It Lipcolour in 'Beauty Queen'

This is a lovely cool-toned nude pink shade, with hints of purple. It has an extremely glossy finish, which isn't very long-lasting, but since it is such a lovely colour, I can forgive this. The packaging of this lipstick is quite cheaply made, with a flimsy plastic lid (which I have already cracked). I find this is the perfect lipstick for days where i'm rocking a dark eye look, as it just gives a lovely shiny, wash of light-pink to the lips.

L-R: Pink Possibilities, 16, Hula, All About Cupcake, Beauty Queen.

As you can probably tell, my favourite lip colours for Spring are definitely peaches and pinks. If you know of any similar colours that you think I would enjoy, please leave them down below. And also feel free to let me know what lipsticks you are currently loving - no matter if you're currently in spring or autumn.
