Pale Drugstore Foundation Swatches ♡

Hello my loves!

Being a very pale skinned girl, I have quite a bit of trouble finding suitable foundations. I know that I am not alone in this issue, so that is why I have decided to make an entire blog post about foundations for pale skin.

This blog post will include swatches and mini reviews of most of my foundations, including ones that do and do not work for me. I hope this blog post is helpful for any other pasty-skinned girls like me!

First of all, I just wanted to tell you about my skin colour and type. I have pretty average skin, which occasionally gets dry. I wear foundation to help even out my skin tone, as I have a lot of redness in my skin. I have cool toned skin (pink undertones), but I find that I can often wear either cool or neutral toned foundation. I have never tried a MAC foundation, but I know that many people like comparing foundations to MAC shades, so for this I have guessed that I am around a NW10.

L-R: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, Revlon Nearly Naked, Revlon Colorstay Makeup, ModelsPrefer Infinite Colour Foundation, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, Covergirl & Olay Tone Rehab Foundation, and Covergirl Natureluxe Foundation.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation - 081 Fair Ivory RRP $17.95 for 30ml

First of all, let me just say that this is my current holy grail foundation. I have purchased countless bottles of this foundation, as it matches my skin PERFECTLY. As well as being an amazing shade for pale skin, it also has a lovely dewy finish, which looks amazing on my normal to dry skin. I would say that this foundation has a light to medium coverage, depending on how much layering/building-up you do. This foundation contains a SPF of 18. This foundation lasts well on my skin, but I would definitely recommend powdering it, so that it doesn't slip off your face.

Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup - 110 Ivory | RRP $25.95 for 30ml

After hearing people rave on about the dewy finish this foundation provides, I finally caved and bought it. Despite being the lightest shade in the colour range, this foundation is too dark for me. Hopefully it will work better in the summer time, when I am slightly less pale, but at the moment, I am far too white to wear this foundation. Ignoring my colour issues, I absolutely LOVE the formula of this foundation. It is so dewy and makes my skin look positively radiant, and it is so lightweight on my skin. It provides me with lovely light coverage for everyday use. It also has a SPF of 20. I would not recommend this to people with oily skin, but if you have dry or normal skin, and prefer a dewy finish, you need to try this!

Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin - 110 Ivory | RRP $34.95 for 30ml

I will say, it took me a while to warm up to this foundation, but I am now starting to like it. It is a decent match for my skin, though it does have quite a strong pink tone, but I can make it work for me. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone with dry skin, as I think it would become cakey on dry patches. This is not an everyday foundation for me, as I find it to be a little too thick and heavy, but I like it when I want a more flawless complexion, as it provides a nice medium coverage on my skin. It contains a SPF of 20. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for a high coverage foundation, and who doesn't mind a heavier feeling foundation.

ModelsPrefer Infinite Colour Foundation - Shell RRP $16.99 for 30ml

This foundation looks so pale in the bottle, but unfortunately it tends to oxidise a fair few shades darker once it is blended onto my skin. This was a bit of a bummer for me, but I do find that I can still use this foundation if I mix it in with a lighter foundation. If you aren't the palest girl out there, and have a pink undertone, this may be the foundation for you! This foundation does not contain any SPF, which makes it ideal for flash photography. When I am brave enough to try and pull off this foundation, I find it gives a nice light coverage, and it lasts all day on my skin.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
- 51 Light Vanilla | RRP $32 for 30ml

First of all, I just want to say that this foundation is NOT a good match for my skin tone. It is too dark and yellow-toned to suit me, but I would recommend this to someone who has yellow undertones. Disregarding the colour, this foundation has an amazing formula. It feels light on the skin, whilst still providing a nice light to medium, buildable coverage. I would say this provides a natural/dewy finish. This foundation does not contain any SPF, which makes it suitable for flash photography. I wish this foundation had a shade suitable for my skin tone, as the formula is outstanding!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation - 115 Ivory | RRP $18.95 for 30ml

Unfortunately, this foundation did not 'fit me'. It was far too dark and peach toned on my face. Therefore, I do not have a lot of experience with this foundation, but from what i've used, I know that it is a very dewy foundation. In my case, it may be a bit too dewy, as I find that it can make your skin look slightly oily. This foundation contains a SPF of 18. It only provides a light coverage finish. I wasn't overly impressed by this foundation.

Covergirl & Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 Foundation - 110 Classic Ivory | 30ml (I can't find the price)

Once again, I have another bad colour match from Covergirl. I have come to the conclusion that they have absolutely no interest in releasing any pale shades to their Australian customers, which is a huge shame! This just didn't suit my skin, as it was far too dark. Apart from the colour, this seems like a decent product. It has quite a nice thicker, almost mousse-like consistency, and blended well. I recall this foundation having a light coverage. I do not believe that this foundation contains any SPF.

Covergirl Natureluxe Silk Foundation - 310 Flax | 30ml (I can't find the price)

This was my first ever foundation purchase! I must have worn it for at least a year, before realising that it was not a good colour match for me. It is far too orange/pink on my skin, and makes me look a bit like an oompa loompa. Not a good look! I haven't worn this foundation for a while (due to the colour), but from what I can remember, it gave a decent light to medium coverage. It only contains a SPF of 10, so I would not rely upon this to protect my skin from sun damage. I wouldn't recommend this foundation to pale skintones.

Just wanted to add that the underside of my wrist is the palest part of my body, therefore none of the foundations appear to match my skin colour in the swatch photo, but they do match me in real life!

I hope that this blog post has been helpful for any pale-skinned readers! I will definitely do a follow up blog post once I have added a few more pale foundations to my collection. What is your favourite pale foundation?

  3. I'm quite pale too, but have a neutral/warm undertone so I can sometimes get away with those darker shades! This was so helpful to see all of the different swatches and will definitely come in handy the next time I'm shopping! I remember that Covergirl foundation.. it was my first too! I'm pretty sure they had some lighter shades than the one you swatched! too bad they discontinued it :/

Yeah I was pretty new to makeup when I bought it, so I probably accidentally bought the wrong shade. Haha ♡
